I have studied monetary history and money for over ten years. I first learned about Bitcoin in 2015 when I read a Yahoo article about it being used on the dark web. I was turned off because criminals reportedly used it to buy illicit items while “retaining their anonymity.” I never looked at it again until November 2020, when I purchased my first satoshi.
Until then, I was storing my wealth in gold, silver, single-family rental houses, and apartments. I did this because I knew that if I saved my wealth in dollars, it would be eroded by the insidious, hidden tax called inflation. I started down the rabbit hole when I watched a YouTube video by Mike Maloney, a very prominent gold bug, who did a video on the Byzantines General’s problem and Bitcoin.
He also talks about a shitcoin, so ignore that part. I highly recommend his entire series called “The Hidden Secrets of money.” If you want to learn how our monetary system works, watch this episode of the series. I have watched this video over ten times and am still amazed at how convoluted our financial system’s inner workings are. It is no wonder why we don’t understand how our monetary system works.
I then read the Bitcoin Whitepaper a couple of times. My understanding of gold, central banking, fractional reserve banking, economic history, and real estate helped me better grasp the innovation of Bitcoin.
Since that day, all I have done is eat, breathe, think and dream about Bitcoin!
I have headphones on for hours, listening to almost every new Bitcoin podcast and Bitcoin Twitter Spaces. I have read practically every Bitcoin book and learn something new about Bitcoin every day.
I invested in rental properties to serve as a means to allow me to retire by 40 years old. When I realized that Bitcoin was like my rental properties but without tenants and super liquid, I put all my cash flow into Bitcoin, refinanced properties to buy Bitcoin, took out loans to buy Bitcoin, and saved as much as possible. My understanding of property helped me realize that Bitcoin is the most valuable property I could own.
Bitcoin has inspired me to write and educate as many people about Bitcoin as possible, and this inspiration caused me to start a Bitcoin-Only publication company called Satoshi’s Journal. This platform will be how my team and I will educate as many people as possible about Bitcoin. As Archimedes said, “give me a lever long enough, and a fulcrum upon which to rest, and I can move the world.” Satoshi’s Journal will be the lever, and Bitcoin is the fulcrum.
